MYTH– To reduce weight eat less food and exercise more

Fact: Consuming more calories than the body needs for a prolonged period of time with no physical activity is the direct cause of weight gain.

MYTH– Weight gain is caused by a poor lifestyle only

FACT– Poor lifestyle can be one of the factors contributing to weight gain but it’s often multifactorial.

MYTH– Fat-free, calorie-free foods are good

FACT– No-fat and low-fat foods still contain a lot of calories

MYTH– Carbohydrates cause weight gain

FACT– Consumption of simple carbohydrates causes weight gain if consumed in excess. Instead complex carbohydrates should be included in the diet.

MYTH– High protein diet reduces hunger

FACT– High protein diet does not reduce the appetite but it gives us the feeling of satisfaction.

MYTH– Skipping meals is a key to weight loss

FACT– Skipping meals results in consuming more calories. As one tends to eat more at the next meal.
